Are the heads of American motorcycle riders more, or less hardy, than those piloting English and Australian motorbikes?
Your guess is as good as mine! But here is what a British and Australian review found:
“Motorcyclists are at high risk in traffic crashes, particularly for head injury. A review of studies concluded that helmets reduce the risk of head injury by around 69% and death by around 42%.”
“Motorcycle helmets reduce the risk of death and head injury in motorcycle riders who crash.”
Some motorcycle helmets can be a bit of a pain in the neck, for some riders, 99% of the time. But unless your head is substantially more durable than those of our UK and Aussie brethren, then it’s just that darn minute percent of the time when you actually need it for its intended purpose that your lid can substantially change how the rest of your life is going to play out….
